Shawn Hennigan
started working with Friesians in 1989 with four young horses sent
in for training. At that time there were only a handful of Friesians
in the Northeast. Shawn trained the horses to ride and drive, and
in 1992 the Kent family purchased Marinus and Moike. They were the
beginning of a new journey based on beautiful black horses.
The family was enchanted with the breed, and transformed into true
believers that Friesians were the one and only horse to have.
As the breed grew across the Northeast, More Friesians went
to Hennigan Stables for training and showing. Friesians fever
increased for the Kent family through showing, exhibiting, and the
growing relationships with Moike and Marinus. The Horses became a
part of the family! So, the Kent Family continued their Friesian journey
with the purchase of IronGate Farm, with Shawn at the helm.
We import high quality horses with the goal of matching the right
horse with the right owner. We bring in horses suited for breeding
and different disciplines, including driving, dressage, saddleseat, and pleasure. We also have a variety of young colts
and fillies. It is important to us that each new owner is happy and
comfortable with his or her new horse. And, our horses are loved
and well taken care of.
We try to provide a full array for prospective buyers. We like to
educate about the Friesian, so people have knowledge about the
breed they are buying. We continue to provide information and
guidance after the horse leaves our farm. We like to follow how
they are doing, and stay a small part of their lives. It is very
easy to become attached to all these horses, and it is always hard
to see them leave . |
